International Folk Music Festival

Nepal Music Centre hosted the International Folk Music Festival 2008 from 5 to 8 November. Elaborately costumed performers from the participating countries such as Norway, Sounth Africa, Malawi, Palestine, India and Nepal paraded around the venue in their ethnic music reminding people of an actual Olympic opening ceremony. Concerts were organised at various venues and workshops were also held as part of the event. Around 150 participants from six different countries took part in the program which was organised to mark 100 years of music recording in Nepal and also 25 years of commercialisation of Nepali music through Music Nepal.
